This painting is a joyful expression of the vibrant summers in Volcano, Hawai‘i, where Kahili gingers bloom freely in my backyard. Every morning, their bright red and yellow blossoms greet the day with such freshness and energy; like a celebration of sunshine, warmth, and life itself. 
I painted this piece with bold strokes and glowing colors, letting the boundaries between plant and background dissolve, just like how summer light blurs edges in real life. Ti plants and ferns quietly echo from the background, familiar companions in my garden, while the Ginger takes center stage; dancing, radiant, alive. 
There’s no strict realism here;  just color, movement, and the feeling of being wrapped in tropical joy. I hope it brings a smile to those who see it, and perhaps a warm memory of Hawai‘i’s sunshine, blooming mornings, and the magic of a summer day. 
While this piece stands alone now, it’s part of an upcoming trilogy honoring the many personalities of ginger; each one a celebration of nature’s exuberance.
