Watercolor on Paper | A Heartfelt Piece of Hawai‘i
In Bloom and Light takes me back to my first days in Kona — a time when everything felt fresh and full of possibility. I stayed in a place surrounded by plumeria trees, their soft petals and sweet fragrance filling the warm air. It was as if the island itself was welcoming me, wrapping me in a sense of home I hadn’t felt since moving to the U.S. Even now, the faintest whiff of plumeria brings that memory rushing back — a moment of pure, quiet joy.
I painted this piece with a light heart, letting the watercolor flow in soft, playful strokes. The plumerias open in gentle yellows, pinks, and hints of red and blue, blending together like a memory you can’t quite hold but always feel. The background — deep ultramarine with light breaking through — is not entirely real nor fully abstract. It’s the essence of those mornings: warm, alive, and filled with possibility.
This painting is my way of holding onto that simple, heart-filling moment when life feels just right — like a warm breeze or a familiar scent that carries you home.
